Every day we listen to dozens of demos
of bands looking for management.
Problem is, most are not ready for
management. Easily 90% of the artists who contact us just need a
little advice in devising a game plan for a particular part of their
career and not another mouth to feed.
Hiring a manager is like getting married.
You have to be sure that you have the right relationship and the
same priorities in life and your career before you sign a contract
that binds you to a long-term financial commitment. Wouldn't you
want to really know and trust the person who is making critical
career decisions for you and who is speaking on behalf of your band
and representing every aspect your business to the music community?
Maybe you should consider getting
more informed about your business before you hire someone to run
it. Wouldn't you approach it that way if you were opening any other
business? Wouldn't you want to know everything you possibly could
about it so that you could make better decisions about your career
path and the people you hire to help create your vision?
MyBandManager.com
is a music-business consulting firm run by Paul Nugent and Mike
Swinford.
Over the past 10 years, we have operated
several successful businesses (214 Entertainment, Rainmaker Artists,
Rainmaker Records, Brando Records, The Curtain Club, Bandwear.com).
From management to publishing; from touring to major labels deals
(international or domestic) there isn’t anything we haven't
done in this business. Over the years we have surrounded ourselves
with some of the best talent that the great Southwest has had to
offer. (Deep Blue Something, The Nixons,
Tripping Daisy, Hagfish, Better
Than Ezra, Soak, Sugarbomb,
Grand Street Cryers, and more).
We have secured and worked nine major
labels deals, several Indie label deals, publishing deals, film
and TV licensing deals, booking agents and agencies, merchandise
deals, radio promotion (multiple formats), retail, distribution,
manufacturing, packaging, entertainment attorneys, major tours (domestic
and international). We have had several Billboard charting hits
at multiple formats to include #1 and Top 5 chart positions all
around the world.
We can't talk people into liking your
music, buying your CD's, going to your shows, or buying a t-shirt.
But we can tell you how to reach them so that they can decide for
themselves if your music is something that inspires them enough
to want to know more about your band and get behind your music.
What is the difference between
management and consulting?
Well, the best analogy we can give you is this: Management is like
marriage and consulting is like dating. Manager:
you agree to be bound by a contract for several years and give up
a percentage of your gross income. Consultant:
you are merely paying to acquire knowledge for a specific part of
the music industry for a flat fee (usually an hourly rate).
Every band needs help, but few actually
need management until they are developed to the point that there
is something to actually manage (i.e. a record deal to work, major
touring, finished songs to shop to labels, publishers, etc...)
MyBandManager.com
assists artists with development, as they need help. We consult
bands, labels, managers, and basically anyone needing advice or
help with creating, producing, distributing, promoting or using
music. Our knowledge base is deep. From choosing a producer and
negotiating points to shopping your demos in search of a record
deal, to learning the basics of running your band as a business,
we are your primary source for the industry.
We can tell you everything you need
to know to help you make good decisions and ultimately reach your
musical goals sooner and be more informed.
We will save you money, heartache,
and keep you from setting your career back a few years. The information
you learn can even help you avoid a few lawsuits down the road.
We will teach you where the money
is. What retail percentages are fair? What is publishing? When should
we tour? How much can we make? What tour expenses can we expect?
What do producers want? How and when should we approach a major
or independent label? And so much more...we also offer band mediation
to help solve those internal disputes that usually surface when
a group of artists are ill informed about the music business.
We are available to you now. Click

sort of advice you are looking for and give you an estimate on how
much time we think it will take to consult with you.
